The Ronald McDonald House near Lurie Children’s is conveniently located in the Streeterville neighborhood of downtown Chicago. At fifteen stories, it is the largest of the five Ronald McDonald Houses in the Chicagoland area. The first House in Chicago and second in the world opened in 1977 on Deming Place. The House moved to its current location in 2012 to support the needs of families whose children are receiving treatment at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, Northwestern Hospital pediatrics and other downtown pediatric clinics.
The House has 66 guest rooms, with private bathrooms and fully stocked linens, towels and toiletries. Each room can accommodate up to five family members. Our House offers the following to provide care and comfort to our families:
- Shared comfortable living spaces on several floors.
- Fun game rooms and children’s play areas.
- Prepared meals provided by generous volunteers.
- Free Wi-Fi throughout the house.
- Laundry facilities with detergent.
- Meditation room.
- Rooftop healing garden and play area.
- Library and computer/business center.
Our families have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities hosted by our volunteer groups.

Parking & Shuttle Service
Families are welcome to temporarily park their car in front of the House for up to 30 minutes to unload their luggage and belongings, with the exception of 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Please utilize your hazard lights. We have luggage carts for you to use, available on the first floor.
For long term parking, families should park at the medical facility where their child is a patient. At Lurie Children’s, families can park at the Lurie Children’s Huron-Superior parking garage located at 222 East Huron Street. The cost is $10 for less than seven hours and $15 for more than seven hours. Lurie Children’s Hospital operates a shuttle service which runs every 30 minutes between Lurie Children’s and the House.
