McDonald’s played a vital role in the inception of the first Ronald McDonald House, which opened in Philadelphia in October, 1974. In April 1977, the world’s second Ronald McDonald House opened in Chicago thanks to a partnership with the local McDonald’s franchisees, creating a catalyst that sparked the growth of the Ronald McDonald House Charity system.

The McDonald’s Owner/Operators of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana (MOCNI) co-op, along with McDonald’s corporate offices and their supplier network, are our most significant funders and supporters, contributing 20 to 25% toward our annual budget through various fundraising efforts.

At nearly 500 McDonald’s restaurants across Chicago and Northwest Indiana, nearly one million dollars is collected annually through Round-Up for RMHC and donation boxes to support our programs. Additionally, the local restaurants host in-store fundraisers each February as well as donate one penny from every Happy Meal.

Although the McDonald’s system is an important corporate partner, no one company funds our programs entirely. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, we rely on the support of the entire community and greatly value all donations, whether it’s through time, talent, or treasure.

Thank you for donating to our mission through your local McDonald’s restaurants!
