Cookies from the Heart
Few things bring immediate feelings of warmth and home like the smell of freshly baked cookies. Similar to our Meals from the Heart program, Cookies from the Heart brings volunteers into our five House kitchens to prepare food from scratch for the families that are staying with us. On return from the hospital, families are welcomed with not just the smell of homemade cookies, but a freshly-baked goodie to enjoy. Cookies from the Heart is part of the generous efforts of our volunteers to make our families feel comforted and at home.
HOW IT WORKS
Nothing beats the smell of homemade cookies baking in the oven to remind you of home. Cookies from the Heart volunteers plan their treat, purchase the ingredients and bake in our kitchens so when the families return from a day at the hospital, they can help themselves to a treat or two.
Cookies from the Heart volunteers work in a group (up to 10 people) to make any type of treat, from cookies and brownies, to rice crispy treats or puppy chow. We ask that volunteers make four to five dozen of the treat they decide.
