October Volunteer of the Month – Lynn Pascente

Meet our volunteers! Each month, we highlight stand-out volunteers and how they support families. For October, meet Lynn Pascente, whose support as a Supply Transport Driver has made a big impact on families.

  1. How long have you volunteered with RMHC-CNI, and what do you typically do?
I started in December 2021 as a Supply Transport Driver and it has been a wonderful experience in every way! In this role I spend my shifts driving between all the different Ronald McDonald Houses and Family Rooms to take supplies where they’re needed. No two shifts are alike, and it’s such a fun way to spend my volunteer time.
  2. What do you appreciate about volunteering with our organization, and what keeps you coming back?
What I appreciate most is the people. Everyone I’ve met has been beyond kind, selfless and caring. They are the type of people that you always look forward to seeing again. All the staff and other volunteers make the kids and families their number one priority. It’s just so nice to be a small part of such a great place. While I wish there wasn’t a need for RMHC because that would mean so much suffering wouldn’t exist, in the meantime, the organization is here to do everything possible to help families through very hard times. It is such important work. What keeps me coming back as a volunteer is all the wonderful people I’ve met and their commitment to helping others. I see how everyone works together to support the mission and the difference that makes.
  3. If someone was thinking about becoming a volunteer with RMHC-CNI, what would you tell them about getting involved?
I would say to anyone interested in getting involved that if you want to be around kind, caring people making a difference in the lives of kids and their families, then please apply to volunteer. You’ll never regret your decision! Just the opposite, you’ll know once you start that it’s one of the best life decisions you’ve ever made, and you’ll love it! It’s like a big extended family here. You’ll feel part of the greater good for all.

Thank you Lynn for your contributions to helping families feel at home!
