February Volunteers of the Month – Joe and Sandy Bard
Meet our volunteers! Each month, we’ll be highlighting a stand-out volunteer (or two) and how they support families. For February, meet Sandy and Joe Bard, who volunteer at both a Ronald McDonald House and a Family Room.
“We started volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House near Advocate Children’s almost 10 years ago. We were both familiar with the Charity since Joe worked for McDonald’s, and helping out at the House looked interesting.
When the Family Room in Edward Hospital opened, the RMHC staff ‘recruited’ us to lend a hand at that location as well. So, we started alternating between the two locations.
This is a great organization and we’re glad to help out at both locations in any way. We have met many wonderful volunteers and families, and we always like to see the happy ending when a child with improving health gets to go home.”
