Micah Anderson’s Family
When the Anderson’s youngest son, Micah was born, he was hospitalized for the first month of his life due to multiple congenital heart defects. The family learned about the Ronald McDonald House near Advocate Children’s Hospital and were warmly welcomed.
“I can’t explain the burden that was lifted because of Ronald McDonald House,” says Lauren Anderson. “They helped hold our family together during a time that was incredibly difficult and allowed us to focus on our son instead of daily needs. The House offered meals so I didn’t have to cook, a quiet place to put ourselves back together, and a place for my other kids to feel normal.”
In his short life, Micah’s family has stayed at the House for nearly 300 days. He is doing better today, but still requires additional surgeries and is often hospitalized. Each time, the Anderson’s are welcomed at the House.
“I never thought we’d need Ronald McDonald House’s services and we are forever indebted to those who have made it possible for our family to stay together,” says Lauren.
