Graham Davis’s Family
Quiana Davis was thrilled to be expecting. At 22 weeks, she learned Graham, her first child by birth, had Down syndrome. When he was born, Graham was also diagnosed with Hirschsprung Disease, which affects the colon. Quiana was told that he required several heart surgeries.
“Having the ability to access my son at a moment’s notice is invaluable.” – Quiana Davis
Because of the length of time Graham needed to be in the hospital, Quiana stayed at Ronald McDonald House. “It made breastfeeding easier. It made getting information from the doctors easier,” Quiana explains. “I had just had my baby, and to try to get the hang of things was exhausting. Just to be that close, not to mention the camaraderie talking with other mothers. You find out you’re not alone.” Quiana laughs when she notes that they’ve been at the hospital more than they’ve been at their own home in Indiana. But she says she wouldn’t stay anywhere else but Ronald McDonald House.
