McCain Foods supports Ronald McDonald charities

Lisle-based McCain Foods USA has donated $100,000 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana to support the development of the new Ronald McDonald House in the heart of Chicago, which is set to open in 2012.

The donation will be used to help build a state-of-the-art kitchen at the facility.

Nestled among four world-class hospitals — the new Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Prentice Women’s Hospital and the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago — the new Ronald McDonald House, which will be Leadership Energy & Environmental Design-certified, will serve as a haven of compassion and hope for families who travel from all parts of the world to obtain health care for their children. The house will be 14 stories and provide 86 private rooms, including three communal floors, with balconies on the dining floor and a rooftop retreat to give families a chance to relax and enjoy the city views after long days in the hospital.
