Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana (RMHC®-CNI) provides care and comfort to families when the unthinkable happens – their child is ill and requires medical treatment far from home. Parents will do anything to comfort their sick child, and whether they dry their tears, hold their hand, answer their questions or assist with their care, parents make a big difference in the quality and speed of their child’s recovery.
We improve the health, well-being, and education of children in our region by operating four Ronald McDonald Houses® which provide a “home away from home” for the families of children being treated at local hospitals, providing free medical care to underserved youth through our Ronald McDonald Care Mobile® and awarding college scholarships to help local students achieve their educational dreams.
When the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago opened in the summer of 2012, even more families are seeking vital care for their children in Chicago and the new Ronald McDonald House® near Lurie Children’s will allow these families to stay just blocks from where their child is being treated. This House is the world’s largest, providing a “home away from home” to 86 families every night.
The new House is a welcoming place for families to return after a long day at the hospital. In addition to a warm shower, home-cooked meal and soft bed, the House will allow families to find emotional support through bonding with other families going through similar situations. RMHC-CNI relies on charitable gifts, both big and small, from individuals, organizations and businesses. The new House is proud to be a part of the Magnificent Moments program and we know that your contributions will provide important support towards our goal of keeping families together during some of the most challenging moments in their life.
